In every corner of the White Isle there are family owned fish restaurants, upmarket beach bars, tourist traps and fine dining zones in abundance, each complete with rosé slinging waiters weaving between the tables.

Best for: Farm-to-table dining that feels genuinely exciting

It's a rare thing to find a new restaurant that has such a strong sense of identity; a place where everything is well thought through and executed. Juntos House is a such a beast. From the restaurant's layout, to their artist collaborations, to the boutique and food and staff, everything feels cohesive and together (the name makes sense now).
At its heart, Juntos House is an agroturismo, where farm-to-table dining is king and good ingredients are the centrepiece of every dish. Top dishes include the aubergine and the tuna skewers.

One of the most rugged and beautiful spots on the island, La Torre is the perfect place for sundowners and an early (for Spain) dinner. Book a table for about an hour before sunset so you're primed and ready for the show, or reserve a spot for cocktails ahead of your meal. This is a place for a full three courses, rather than tapas or small plates, so be prepared to be very full on departure.

There's only one way to describe Los Enamorados: it feels like the real Ibiza. It's not too polished, nor is it too curatedly bohemian. It's pulsating with an artistic spirit that feels genuinely quite thrilling. The restaurant is part of a boutique hotel and is perched above one of the most beautiful coves Ibiza has to offer. Arrive early in the morning and reserve one of the sun beds from the small hut at the back of the beach, then wander up for lunch when it's time. Be warned, you've got to book a spot here, about a week or so before you plan on going, as it does get very busy. The menu is relatively broad, with an emphasis on wellness, and boasts a mix of fresh fish, ceviche and salads, poké bowls and tacos.

Best for: A change of pace

Opening its doors for the first time this summer, Zitya has done the impossible task of standing out in Ibiza's saturated culinary scene.
Set on the site of an iconic 00s hangout frequented by Mick Jagger, Kate Moss and Elle McPherson, the venue has been completely reimagined by French design firm, PINTO. Think rich reds, warm candlelight and dinner under the stars.
Curated by Executive Chef Timothy Newton, the menu is a breath of fresh air on an island dominated by tuna tartare and tomato salads, choosing instead to offer a contemporary take on Rhodian cuisine. Don't leave without trying the feta kataifi.

Nudo
Best for: Small plates and natural wines

By far the coolest new spot in Ibiza, Nudo is the product of not one, not two, but three ex-Noma chefs. It has all the hallmarks of a hip East London spot: the childlike logo, the emphasis on natural wines, and the small plate sharing concept are all there, just transplanted onto the Balearic coastline. It's only open from 13:00-18:00 daily, so you'll need to be organised if you want to get a table. The food is made up of typical Mediterranean ingredients, but cooked using different global techniques. The beach it's set on, Figueral, isn't the most beautiful, so we recommend setting up at the nearby Aigues Blanques in the morning, before heading to Nudo for your lunch or very early dinner.

Cala Gracioneta
Best for: Laidback lunching

Tucked away in an unassuming corner of San Antonio, this beach restaurant is an absolute must visit. The interiors are quintessential Ibiza, with wooden tables and chairs casually set up and scattered around the cove. We recommend it for lunch, where the shaded canopy provides respite from the midday sun. Though, as the evening approaches, the whole place is cast in that famous Ibicencan golden light and live music is often performed until late. It's set right on the beach, so if you go for lunch you can spend a lazy afternoon stretched out on the sand, popping back inside for a mojito or margarita at leisure. Order the paella to share between friends and family, along with the cuttlefish croquettes.

Café Montesol offers something a little different: it's not dining in the old town, but dining with a view of it. As the restaurant is part of the Montesol Experimental boutique hotel, it's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner–but for the most spectacular views of Dalt Vila, we recommend going for sunset. The kitchen is headed up by chef Alex Larrea, whose menu includes tapas and local delicacies, fresh vegetarian dishes and charcoal grilled fish, all ready to be washed down with some of Spain's best small producer wines. Best for: Small plates in the sun

Small plate fans will undoubtedly love Hämbre–Santa Eulalia's experimental and exciting new spot that opened just over a year ago. Brainchild of Antía Pagant and Matias Romano, the restaurant is a much needed injection of life into the sleepier side of the island.
Dishes range from creamy stracciatella and smoky aubergine, to a five cheese cheesecake, all paired with natural wines supplied by Sed, Hämbre's sister bar.
The location - and restaurant design - isn't the best, but that just means there's more attention paid to the food and ingredients than whether the tables are set perfectly. Here, you eat at bistro tables on the pavement of Santa Eulalia, enjoying great food and watching locals and tourists alike strolling by.

Aubergine by Atzaró

Part of the Atzaró group, Aubergine offers a completely different atmosphere to both their beach club and their hotel. Found at the end of a winding track, Aubergine is set right in the heart of the island's countryside. Blue Marlin
Best for: Celebrity spotting

Possibly the most well known spot on the island, Blue Marlin has earnt itself a reputation as a celebrity haunt in just under two decades. Guests can book sun beds (one bed seats four) or tables in the bar and restaurant depending on their preference.
Like many of the beach clubs on Ibiza, the vibe of Blue Marlin is ‘event dependant’. The party days happen Thursday to Sunday, where the dance floor becomes raucous from around 9pm. Monday to Wednesday the place has a more relaxed, beach-y vibe.
Be prepared to spend here, as everything is expensive–though what do you expect from a place where the booking form asks for the name of your yacht?

El Olivo Mio
Best for: Dining in the old town

Sometimes you have to lean into the fact that you're a tourist, and this is especially true if you want to dine in Dalt Vila. We recommend eating in the old town at least once, as the location offers something totally different to the rest of the island, and at night, when the air is cooler, it comes alive. El Olivo Mio is one of the most charming spots here, with chairs lining the wonky stone streets in a casual fashion. Entertainment arrives at intervals, with dancers and musicians performing for your pleasure.

Casa Jondal
Best for: The fashion crowd

The third big spot on the San José beach of Cala Jondal, this is possibly one of the most expensive lunch restaurants on Ibiza–but it's worth it. Jondal opened in 2020 to what was probably the quietest summer Ibiza has seen since the 1960s. However, thanks to its perfectly curated vibe of low chairs, jute rugs and burlap sails strung up between Ibiza's famous sabina trees, alongside a food offering headed up by world renowned chef Rafael Zafra, it's seen success beyond belief. Last summer the whole place was decked out in Burberry monogram fabrics, so it's certainly a place for the fashion set.

Best for: Beach bums

Perfect for both a quick lunch and a long leisurely one, Amante is a beach club stroke restaurant that performs both functions with a deft touch. The kitchen is open from 13:00 until midnight, with sun beds from 11:00, so you can flit from lounger to dining table to cocktail bar without time constraint. There's a very laidback feel here–it's buzzy without being posey. Expect lots of fish dishes, tartares and ceviches, as well as classic Spanish rice dishes. Oh, and don't miss their outdoor cinema evenings which run throughout the summer season.

Atzaró Beach

There are two options here at beach club-cum-restaurant Atzaró. The first is to find a spot on the beach at Cala Nova and spend the morning tanning on the sand, popping back up for lunch when the midday sun gets too intense. The second is to book a day bed at Atzaró and order food to it as and when you feel like it. Whatever your preference, you're sure to enjoy a delicious meal. Cova Santa
Best for: Club-cum-restaurant hybrid

Not for the faint hearted, Cova Santa is essentially a club that serves dinner. Built into a hill, the restaurant is set over several staggered terraces, with a DJ at the bottom of the hill and a tattoo parlour, shop and roof top bar at the highest point.
Be sure to check what event is on when you want to visit, as the feel of the place differs from one day to the next. One evening there might be a arts and crafts market, on another there might be a world famous DJ on the decks.
You'd be forgiven for thinking that, in a setting like this, there is no way the food can also be good–you'd be wrong. The food is outstanding, with mouth-wateringly good tomato salad, red prawn carpaccio and king crab dishes. However, the banana leaf sea bass is the star of the show.

Sunset Ashram

In many ways, Sunset Ashram is similar to La Torre, with (as the name suggests) one of the best views of the sunset on the island. However, where La Torre is rocky, Sunset Ashram is sandy, and you can run all the way down to the sea's edge to watch the sun slip into the ocean. The spot has a hippy vibe, and a hush falls in the restaurant just before the sun fully goes down, followed by a scattering of applause. The food here is split into three sections: sushi, Indian inspired and Mediterranean.

Casa Maca
Best for: Steak lovers

Another hotel restaurant, Casa Maca feels beautifully rural despite its easy to reach location. Dinner here is best drawn out over several hours, starting just before sunset and lasting until the moon is high in the night sky. Like Jul's and Aubergine, many of Casa Maca's ingredients are grown onsite on their organic farm, but it's the steak and truffle mash that this spot is famed for. Food can be seen cooking over an open fire, or the enormous grill, where fish, meat and vegetables are prepared. Expect DJs and live artists throughout the evening.

Best for: People watching over paella

A staple on Formentera, Juan y Andrea has been serving up good food and good times since 1971. Be prepared for a bit of a party feel, this isn't the quietest restaurant on the island, but it is pleasantly lively rather than overwhelmingly so. The food is classic seafood done with a family style feel, and the drinks are free flowing. It's a great people watching spot too, with the who's who of Ibiza coming into the restaurant on tenders at regular intervals.

The quieter neighbour of famed party spot Blue Marlin and the recently opened Jondal, Yemanjá has carved out its own niche on this populated stretch of coastline. The decoration is typically Ibicencan, with large tables and chairs placed at random on the sand. Open everyday until 18:00, Yemanjá is more of a destination dining spot, as the sea here is rougher and rockier than the rest of the island. Instead, ‘bar hop’ between the three spots: lunch at Yemanjá, lounge at Jondal, and dance at Blue Marlin.

Aiyanna
Best for: Healthy lunch in between swims

Part of the Amante group, Aiyanna is the more cheerful looking venue of the Cala Nova duo. As with many of the northern venues, the spot leans into the more bohemian side of Ibiza, with colourful parasols and fabrics draped between trees and a menu made up of organic ingredients sourced from the restaurant’s own garden. Cala Nova itself is well worth a visit: it's a gently curving sandy bay populated with a calmer crowd than Las Salinas or other beaches closer to Ibiza town.

Beso Beach
Best for: Dancing in between courses

There are two Beso Beach spots in Ibiza. One is on Formentera, Ibiza's baby sister, and one is on Salinas, a long stretch of white sand that lines the south eastern coast.
At the Salinas branch, you can either book a table inside the restaurant, or book a sun lounger on the beach. These are both subject to a minimum spend. For those in a more frugal mood, we recommend heading to the beach for around 11am and securing one or two public access sun loungers just to the side of the restaurant. They cost 15€ each for the day, and you can order food and drinks from Beso Beach to your bed.
The Formentera branch often hosts secret parties. Be prepared to spend several hours here; it's not a pit stop.

A website-less restaurant that only takes reservations by phone, in many ways Es Torrent has remained unchanged since the eighties. It started out as a lowkey, humble beach bar, but soon turned into a local favourite. If you've been wanting to sample the local dish, bullit de peix, this is the place to do it. We recommend making a day of it and reserving some sun beds after lunch so you can enjoy the quiet bay.

Best for: Great food in a sultry setting

More modern than many of the other restaurants on this list, Jul's feels like somewhere you might stumble across in the middle of a busy city like London or New York. It feels eminently contemporary, yet somehow hasn't lost any of its Ibicencan spirit.
Arguably the best service on the island, the staff at Jul's go to great lengths to ensure your every desire is catered for. Plus, the head bartender current holds the title of best bartender in Spain, so the drinks here are a cut above.
Most of the food served here is grown on the Jul's farm, so you'd hard pushed to find fresher ingredients. Highlights include the carabiñeros giouvetsi - a sea urchin orzo dish - and the silver cod.

For the last 30 years, husband and wife duo Mariano and Caridad Cabañero have been running Es Xarcu.
