Stylish sources for affordable wallpaper
There's no getting around the fact that wallpaper is a fairly expensive way to decorate a room. It's always going to cost more than paint, and many of the patterns we lust after come in at over £100 a 10-metre roll, and some much more than that. So if you're committed to it, where can you find cheap wallpaper options that are still stylish? Firstly, you may want to stick to a small room, where the impact of wallpaper is greater anyway and there's more opportunity to something fun. Small downstairs loos are a classic place to employ a striking pattern, along with spare rooms and children's rooms. And then of course there are affordable wallpapers to be found, you just have to know where to look.
Big retailers like John Lewis, who stock stylish patterns from Morris & Co as well as a few corkers from their own line, can be a good first port of call. Major fabric houses like Sanderson and Romo have diffusion lines (Sanderson Home for the former and Threads for the latter). Heavenly block-printed designs from St Judes tend not to cost the earth, and plains from Designers Guild can also be good value for money.
